because summer camp is for everyone.
Campers come from all kinds of backgrounds and it is so important that every child has access to a safe fun place where they can gain independence, learn life skills and meet exciting people from all around the world. Summer camp is that special place.
These camps make sure that all children can have a great childhood, often run by a non-profit organizations, the cost of the camp is subsidised so that these campers can go to camp too.
Most camps run week-to-week, so campers often only stay for one week out of the summer. It’s a great way to host fun themed weeks, jam packed with excitement and activities.
It’s a chance to make a real, lasting impact on the lives of children who might not get to spend much time outdoors and/or might come from difficult background. Every child should be able to be a child.
There’s a phrase ‘every camp is different’ and this couldn’t be truer for camps which cater for campers from an underprivileged background. They can be religious, traditional, specialist, special needs focused, rustic, or even a mixture of all.
Most camps will have more rustic, “simple” accommodation and facilities but you will also find some with very modern facilities. It really just depends on the camp itself.
For some campers, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The summer camp programming will have a large focus on values, self development and independence. It’s a chance to help the campers believe in themselves and to increase their self worth.
There will be lots of activities, long standing traditions and camp spirit at camp. It’s a great place to be and an even better place to work this summer.
